At least 19 people are dead after a bus veered off a bridge and into a stream in South Africa on Monday (June 25).<br/> <br />Police said the driver may have lost control of the vehicle - traveling on a highway near the small town of Meyerton - south of Johannesburg.<br/> <br />Police Captain Shado Mashobane.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) POLICE CAPTAIN SHADO MASHOBANE, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Police found that the bus lost control, of which we don't know how and what caused it. It drove over the safety rail of this bridge and into the stream."<br/> <br />The bus fell about 30 feet off the bridge before becoming submerged in water.<br/> <br />More than 50 passengers and a rescue worker were injured in the accident.<br/> <br />Sarah Irwin, Reuters.
