Three federal police officers are dead after a shootout on Monday - with suspected drug traffickers at Mexico City's international airport.<br/> <br />The Public Security Ministry said the police were moving to detain drug suspects when they were shot.<br/> <br />So far this year, police have seized more than 440 pounds of cocaine at the airport.<br/> <br />Two officers died at the scene - and one died later in hospital.<br/> <br />An investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made.<br/> <br />The murder rate in Mexico City has been relatively low - compared with the rest of Mexico where drug violence has killed more than 50 thousand people in the past five years.<br/> <br />But attacks in the capital have been increasing - with more than 300 gang-related deaths last year.<br/> <br />Sarah Irwin, Reuters.
