EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL<br/> <br />A combination of his Eagles work commitments and past struggles with substance abuse had so far delayed Joe Walsh's latest solo album plans.<br/> <br />But after almost twenty years the singer-songwriter has finally managed, and "Analog Man" was released earlier this month.<br/> <br />Featuring some twelve songs, Walsh credits his wife, Marjorie Bach, for finishing it.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Joe Walsh, musician, saying (English):<br/> <br />"I got married to a wonderful partner who's kind of the part in me that was missing. And she decided I should finish it."<br/> <br />Walsh long battled an addiction to alcohol and drugs, but has recovered since. These days he openly talks both in his music and interviews about the experience.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Joe Walsh, musician, on recording experience, saying (English):<br/> <br />"Recording an aleebum used to be a big party and that's not an option for me anymore. So it was more like a job, a work ethic that I never paid attention to before. I got a lot more done and I think the music speaks for itself."<br/> <br />With new technologies at hand, recording "Analog Man" opened a whole new world to the 64-year-old crooner, which he had to learn to appreciate.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Joe Walsh, musician, on recording experience, saying (English):<br/> <br />"It's very distracting, digital recording. You can fix anything. It's tempting to fix everything because you can. ... Analog (Man)' is capturing a human performance and there's magic in that. ... I had to learn how to think analogue and use this new technology so I didn't destroy the magic of the performance."<br/> <br />Walsh is still involved with the Eagles, who are currently busy planning their forthcoming anniversary.<br/> <br />He's also promoting his album with a solo tour which will take him around the United States this summer.<br/> <br />Kathi Urban, Reuters
