Mexican band Molotov gets the gold (record)

The Olympics are set to kick off this week but for Mexican band Molotov, they've already won gold.<br/> <br />Their sixth studio album "From Russia With Love" went gold in their native Mexico and the group were presented with the prize in a glitzy ceremony in the capital.<br/> <br />Known for their often incendiary Spanish and English lyrics, Molotov has sold more than three million records worldwide.<br/> <br />Band member Tito Fuentes said he relishes their continued chart success despite growing piracy concerns in the music industry.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Tito Fuentes, Molotov Band Member, saying (Spanish):<br/> <br />"This is big, the official, legitimate sales for an album that we like a lot which is the "(From) Russia (With Love)" which was a very cool experience. We are analysing how the music market has changed and the most convenient way to sell our music etc etc. But now is the time to celebrate."<br/> <br />Singer Paco Ayala said the band are often pulled between touring the world and producing new music.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Paco Ayala, Singer for Molotov, saying:<br/> <br />"I think what comes next is a good album with good songs to prepare good material for which there is little time to do because a tour always takes you from one place to another."<br/> <br />The acclaimed group characterises its music as a combination of rock, rap, funk, and occasionally cumbia.<br/> <br />Molotov is also known for providing the soundtrack to hit film and tv shows, including: "Y Tu Mama Tambien," and "Breaking Bad".<br/> <br />Cindy Martin, Reuters
