As North Korea celebrates 65 years of communist rule, the notoriously secretive state has given unprecedented access to foreign journalists to cover the event.<br /><br />While the lavish festivities marking the occasion are now familiar images to viewers around the world, glimpses of everyday life away from the choreographed shows, however, are not.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Melissa Chan got a peek at life in the capital Pyongyang, while under the watchful eye of North Korean officials.
