Hurricane Tomas has caused flooding that killed eight people and heavily impacted the cholera-infested region of Artibonite, the region where the first cases of the water-borne disease were diagnosed. <br /><br />The Artibonite's river has been swollen by the rains brought by the hurricane and there is significant flooding across the Artibonite region.<br /><br />Many fear that these waters could be contaminated with cholera.
