More than a day has passed since a gas explosion ripped through the Pike River Mine in New Zealand's largest known coal deposit.<br /><br />The mountainous area is cordoned off - but rescue operations for the 29 missing men remain on hold. <br /><br />Al Jazeera's Gerald Tan reports.
