It looks like a battle zone, but Brazil's government says it is now in control of a major shantytown near Rio de Janeiro, the country's second largest city.<br /><br />There was a massive show a force by both the army and police, in response to a deadly, five-day assault on drug gangs.<br /><br />Critics accuse the Brazilian government of using brute force in a densely populated neighbourhoods.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Imran Khan reports.
