PJ Crowley, the former US state department spokesman, has denied that there was a split between the Pentagon and the State Department over the military action in Libya.<br /><br />In an interview with Al Jazeera, Crowley said officials have found it challenging to construct an approach that strikes the right balance between military action and diplomacy in Libya.<br /><br />But he said the uprisings in the Middle East are unfolding at an unprecedented speed - making it very difficult to predict outcomes.
