Pro-democracy rallies have been held in cities across Syria.<br /><br />Friday's protests appear to have been largely peaceful, but violence was reported as security forces dispersed protesters marching towards the centre of Damascus from the suburb of Douma.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Caroline Malone reports.
