US President Barack Obama has signed an executive order imposing new sanctions on Syria.<br /><br />The measures target the country's intelligence agency and two relatives of President Bashar al-Assad. <br /><br />Meanwhile the EU has reached a preliminary agreement to impose its own embargo on the country.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Khadija Magardie reports.
