Saudi Arabia has announced a new heir to the throne.<br /><br />Prince Salman Ibn Abdul Aziz was appointed Crown Prince a day after his predecessor Prince Nayef was buried.<br /><br />Salman served for nearly five decades as the governor of Riyadh, the Saudi capital which today houses more than five million people. <br /><br />He is seen as a less reactionary figure than Nayef, but still tends towards political conservatism.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Mohammed Vall reports from Riyadh.
