The rising waters of the Souris river in the US state of North Dakota have hit the city of Minot hard.<br /><br />The floods are the biggest the area has ever seen and have already destroyed thousands of homes and displaced many more.<br /><br />Engineers are working around the clock to maintain a levee that is protecting what is left of the city from imminent disaster.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Cath Turner reports from Minot.
