Activists say at least 44 people were killed by security forces in Syria on Friday.<br /><br />Most of the reported killings were in Hama and Homs - two cities at the heart of the uprising. <br /><br />In many of Friday's anti-government rallies, protesters were calling for international protection.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Will Jordan reports.
