Barack Obama is due to arrive in Australia on Wednesday for his first visit as president of the United States.<br /><br />He was forced to cancel two previous trips because of events at home.<br /><br />The US leader is expected to sign a deal on military co-operation and announce closer military ties, including the details of an expanded US military presence in Australia.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
