A 29-year old Moroccan man who thought he was carrying explosives for an attack has been arrested near the US Capitol as part of anti-terrorism investigation, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.<br /><br />The FBI said in a statement on Friday that Amine el-Khalifi was arrested "in connection with a terrorism investigation".<br /><br />The man believed he was on a suicide mission, using a vest packed with dummy explosives, according to the FBI.<br /><br />It said: "Explosives the suspect allegedly sought to use in connection with the plot had been rendered inoperable by law enforcement and posed no threat to the public."<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports from Washington DC.
