Eighteen people have been killed in fighting between Turkish soldiers and Kurdish rebels.<br /><br />Kurdish fighters attacked Turkish military units in Hakkari; the southeastern province borders Kurdish areas in northern Iraq.<br /><br />Ten rebels and eight Turkish soldiers are among the dead. <br /><br />The fighters are from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and are fighting for autonomy in the southeast of the country.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Anita McNaught has the latest from Istanbul.
