Egypt's military council made a statement on Sunday about the ongoing protests and violence leading up to next week's planned elections.<br /><br />It said: "The armed forces call on all political and national forces for urgent dialogue in order to ... develop ideas to find a way out of the crisis as quickly as possible."<br /><br />It also asked for a "calm atmosphere" to support a "democratic government".
