But this is a big thing for us, big thing."<br/> <br />Closing down streets in Mexico's capital, fans waved flags and chanted after their team clinched the men's soccer title for the very first time.<br/> <br />Millions across Mexico got up early to catch the match on television.<br/> <br />Some fans hope the historic win will unite the nation in the midst of a brutal drugs war.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) MEXICAN FOOTBALL FAN, ARMANDO MORA, SAYING:<br/> <br />"They had it all for a win. I don't know, we are nothing then we show that we can. This is a beautiful moment for our country. Hopefully, this unites us. Let's stop fighting for something beautiful. It's worth it."<br/> <br />Mexico's previous best Olympic performance was a fourth place finish at the 1968 Mexico Games.
