Two powerful earthquakes killed over 200 people and injured around 1,500 in northwest Iran.<br/> <br />Local television shows collapsed buildings and destroyed villages.<br/> <br />Officials expect casualty numbers to rise as some of the injured are in critical condition and rescuers have difficulties reaching those still trapped under rubble.<br/> <br />Thousands fled their homes in panic, and stayed overnight in makeshift camps, too afraid to return.<br/> <br />There were about 40 aftershocks after the quakes.
