Salvors remove bow of stricken ship Rena

(ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />Salvors began removing parts of the bow of the stricken container ship Rena on Wednesday (August 15).<br/> <br />The bow is the last part of the ship that is visible after the vessel broke apart and the stern sunk in January.<br/> <br />The 47,230-tonne Liberian-flagged Rena initially ran aground on a reef 22 km (12 miles) off Tauranga on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island in October 5, 2011.<br/> <br />The captain Mauro Balomaga and navigator Leonil Relon were charged under the Maritime Transport Act for operating a vessel in a manner likely to cause danger and were sentenced to seven months in jail.
