Riot police in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires used water cannon and tear gas to clear its main avenue after an hours-long blockade by former military draftees. Veterans of the 1982 invasion of the Falkland Islands - which Argentinians call the Malvinas - get monthly pensions, health care, scholarships, workplace preferences and free transportation, among other things. The ex-draftees blocking traffic on Tuesday want the same benefits although they stayed ashore and saw no fighting.

RT on Twitter http://twitter.com/RT_com
RT on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/RTnews
