The ruling AKP Party was aiming for 367 seats, for a two thirds majority to unilaterally push through a new constitution.<br /><br />But it secured only about 50 per cent of the vote - or 326 of the 550 seats in parliament.<br /><br />Its biggest opposition group is the Republican People's Party or CHP which won 135 seats. <br /><br />The National Movement Party or MHP captured 53 seats. And Independent candidates backed by the pro-Kurdish party picked up 36.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Mohamed Vall reports from Ankara.
