Turkey's former military chief, Ilker Basbug, has been arrested for allegedly plotting to overthrow the government.<br /><br />He is one of hundreds of suspects in an investigation into the Ergenekon network, a group accused of being an underground terrorist organisation plotting a coup with the aim of giving power to the army.<br /><br />Basbug is the highest ranking official to have been apprehended for his alleged involvement. And his arrest has cemented an already bitter struggle between the country's government and its military.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Sonia Gallego reports.
