In Afghanistan, wedding celebrations are a unique opportunity for people to show their hospitality. <br /><br />But the size and scale of the affairs has prompted the government to consider a new law aimed at curbing the extravagant feasts that weddings often become, especially given the level of unemployment and poverty in the country.<br /><br />Officials and other tribal leaders want to limit the number of guests, as well as the items on the menu, which would instead be drawn up by the municipal authority.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra reports from Kabul.
