Nordine Amrani, a resident of the Belgian city of Liege, threw grenades and opened fire on Christmas shoppers in the city's central square.<br /><br />Officials report that four people were killed, including Amrani, and up to 75 others wounded in the attack.<br /><br />While judicial sources report that Amrani had a criminal background, Belgium's federal crisis centre said the attack was neither a terrorist incident nor linked to a pending criminal trial.<br /><br />While it was not clear how Amrani had died, local media reports indicated that he may have committed suicide.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Charlie Angela reports.
