There are more than 200 million hungry and malnourished people in India, despite it being one of the largest grain producers in the world.<br /><br />The government has a food security programme under which millions are entitled to subsidised grain.<br /><br />But every year, tonnes of food goes to waste because of faulty storage facilities and an incompetent public distribution system.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Prerna Suri reports from Punjab.
