The Supreme Court on Friday (August 24) dismissed the plea filed by Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy against Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G telecom scam. The apex court said that there is no prima facie material to show that Chidambaram got pecuniary benefits and he abused his official position. The petition was filed by Swamy along with Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan on behalf of an NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation. Chidambaram was the Finance Minister when spectrum was allocated to telecom companies during the tenure of A Raja as Telecom Minister in 2008.
