Panamanian authorities burned over nine tons of drugs seized in police operations over the last several months.<br/> <br />Police say the drugs were mostly cocaine, but included some marijuana and some heroin.<br/> <br />Police say the narcotics included shipments moving through Panama on their way to other destinations, as well as drugs meant for local consumption in Panama.<br/> <br />Drug trafficking has become common along Panama's humid, inhospitable border with Colombia, which is patrolled by just a few thousand officers.<br/> <br />According to Panamanian authorities, over 16 tons of various narcotics have been seized so far in 2012.
