ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION<br/> <br />An anti-Japan rally in southern China drew nearly a thousand people --- many who say it is time for Beijing to reassert its claim to the islands the two countries have been fueding over for decades.<br/> <br />Protesters also gathered in front of Japanese shops and shouted "stop buying Japanese goods", ATV footage showed.<br/> <br />The protests echoed last Sunday's (August 19) nation-wide anti-Japan demonstrations, which took place four days after Japanese police detained Chinese activists who landed on the disputed islands on August 15.<br/> <br />Tokyo and Beijing have been fighting over the island chain near potentially huge maritime gas fields in the East China Sea.
