The World Health Organization descibes obesity as a global epidemic - with hundreds of millions of people suffering from it worldwide.<br /><br />In New York, one of many US states where fatty and conveniently cheap fast food restaurant chains are a major cause for the country's giant obesity rates - organisations are using various ways to make healthy meals more accessible to the public.<br /><br />Experts say the government must subsidise healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, instead of popular fast food companies, to better combat the problem.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Scott Heidler reports from New York.
