Nicolas Sarkozy says he will cut the number of new immigrants by almost half - if he is re-elected as the French President. <br /><br />It is about six weeks until the French people go to vote in the initial stage of the election. <br /><br />Trailing behind in the polls, Sarkozy is trying to appeal to right wing voters.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland reports from Paris.
