North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has made a rare address to the nation when he spoke at an event that marked 66 years since the founding of the political organisation, the Korean Children's Union. <br /><br />It was his second appearance since he succeeded his father and took power last December.<br /><br />In his speech, he addressed 20-thousand youths brought together from across the country for the week-long celebration. <br /><br />State media described the event as "unprecedented." <br /><br />Kim Jong-un is already hailed as the Great Successor and his speech indicates that he might be trying to break the silence observed by his late father.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Gerald Tan reports.
