Severe drought stalks Korean peninsula

North and South Korea are experiencing one of their worst droughts in decades.<br /><br />The government in Seoul has deployed workers, water pumps and emergency funds of around $39 million to the affected areas. Gyeonggi province, one of the worst-hit regions, has only received 20 per cent of its average rainfall for the past two months.<br /><br />Food prices across the country are increasing by an average of 20 to 30 per cent.<br /><br />Across the border, North Korea is experiencing the same weather pattern. But forecasters in South Korea predict the rains will fall soon. <br />Al Jazeera's Florence Looi reports from Gyeonggi province in South Korea.
