People from Sri Lanka's dry zone are no strangers to water shortages. <br /><br />But, they say that a drought which has wiped out almost 80 per cent of crops in some districts and which is now also threatening the the drinking water supply, is "unusually bad". <br /><br />While the government has commitmented to help farmers in the region, promising to help dig up to 5,000 new wells, locals say such relief may come too late. <br /><br />Al Jazeera's Minelle Fernandez reports from Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.
