Australian soldiers have arrived in the Pacific island of Nauru to inspect it for its suitability as a detention centre for asylum seekers. <br /><br />The government hopes such offshore processing will deter people from trying to get to Australia by boat. <br /><br />The move has been tried before, with mixed results.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
