A fire rips through a Sao Paulo favela, as firefighters try to tame the blaze.<br/> <br />More than 1,000 people were left homeless in the Brazil slum after almost 300 homes were destroyed in the Monday fire.<br/> <br />Residents used pails of water to try and douse the blaze and fought to rescue their personal possessions.<br/> <br />Six people were injured as the flames soared up to 10 metres high.<br/> <br />This man, whose house was destroyed, said he was grieving for the loss of the home that he built.<br/> <br />Firefighters said the fire may have started in a slum garbage dump.
