Thousands of civilians are trapped by fighting between the army and opposition fighters in Syria. <br /><br />Many have fled to neighboring countries, but others cannot leave their homes.<br /><br />There have been calls for the setting up of safe zones inside Syria to protect people displaced by the violence.<br /><br />It will come too late for at least one family in the biggest city, Aleppo.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Khadija Magardie reports.
