Brad Pitt co-produced the new movie he also stars in.<br/> <br />Killing Them Softly is set in an un-named U.S. city which has borne the brunt of the financial collapse and petty criminals and mobsters alike are struggling to get by.<br/> <br />And, said Pitt, at a screening of the movie in London, that sort of social commentary makes for a more powerful film.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRAD PITT, SPEAKING ABOUT THE SOCIAL COMMENTARY OF THE FILMS HE PRODUCES, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Whether it's on the surface or it's underneath, I think it's got to say something about... I don't know if any film ever really lands unless it says something about who we are or where we are right now, if it doesn't scratch something that we're questioning underneath.<br/> <br />The movie is based on a 1974 novel by George V Higgins but director, Andrew Dominik used the eve of the 2008 Presidential election as the backdrop for his film.<br/> <br />Pitt has previously worked with Australian, Dominik, on the Assassination of Jesse James.<br/> <br />He said he has no intention of following in the footsteps of some of his friends, or his fiancee Angelina Jolie, in turning his hand to directing.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRAD PITT, ACTOR, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Not going to happen. No, not going to happen - too big of a job. I'd rather be a dad."<br/> <br />This year, the world has been anticipating Pitt's wedding to Jolie, with whom he has six children.<br/> <br />But he was keeping tight lipped about when it would be.<br/> <br />He also quashed rumours that fellow actor, George Clooney, would be his best man.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRAD PITT, ON WHETHER GEORGE CLOONEY WOULD MAKE A GOOD BEST MAN, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Well, he doesn't believe in institutions so he can get people to their seats or something."<br/> <br />Pitt and Jolie have spent time with their family in the UK this year.<br/> <br />Jolie has been shooting upcoming movie "Maleficent", while Pitt has worked on zombie movie "World War Z".
