ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Syrian authorities released 35 detainees at the Damascus police headquarters on Sunday.<br/> <br />The released detainees were not thought to have been directly involved in killing any government forces.<br/> <br />Syrian authorities release a number of prisoners every few days, a condition which originally formed part of the peace plan outlined by the former peace envoy, Kofi Annan, earlier this year.<br/> <br />Annan's plan involves withdrawing heavy weapons and ceasing violence, releasing detainees, letting in foreign humanitarian aid, and allowing people to protest peacefully.<br/> <br />The released detainees showed their identity cards to authority officials inside the police station, who took their finger prints before the registration papers were signed.<br/> <br />The registration papers apparently contained a declaration which said the detainees would no longer become involved in anti-government activities.
