Typhoon Sanba slams Japan's southern Okinawa islands on Sunday.<br/> <br />The storm has closed roads and brought ferry service to a halt.<br/> <br />And with maximum wind speeds near the eye of the typhoon as high as 100 miles-per-hour, state broadcaster NHK said about 300 flights had been cancelled.<br/> <br />It added that about 460 people were voluntarily evacuated to public schools, and many tens of thousands of homes are without power.<br/> <br />South Korea and parts of southern China were also bracing for the storm's impact.
