After so much hardship and heartache, miners in Marikana, South Africa finally have something to smile about.<br/> <br />Workers gathered with their families on Wednesday to celebrate a wage settlement with their employers Lonmin.<br/> <br />Under the agreement the miners will receive an 11-22 percent pay increase, plus a one-off back-to-work bonus.<br/> <br />It brings an end to a six week strike that claimed the lives of 45 people and threatened Africa's biggest economy.<br/> <br />Thrity-four people were shot dead in August outside the Marikana mine, when police opened fire on striking workers.<br/> <br />But while the Marikana miners are now celebrating, other mining companies are looking on with concern, as the threat of industrial action speads to other nearby mines.
