PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL<br/> <br />(ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />Twenty trapped miners have been confirmed dead after a coal mine accident early on Tuesday (September 25), Chinese state media reported.<br/> <br />CCTV, quoting local authorities said they were killed in the mine after a cart lifting them to ground level slipped in a pit.<br/> <br />A total of 34 miners were in the two-cart carriage, CCTV reported.<br/> <br />Authorities said the carriage was designed to carry just 10 passengers, and the carts were clearly overweight with 34 people.<br/> <br />Out of the 14 injured, three are suffering from serious injuries, CCTV reported.<br/> <br />The coal mine, which began operations in 2003, has an annual production capacity of 90,000 tonnes, CCTV said.<br/> <br />China has the world's deadliest coal-mining industry. Safety improvements have reduced the number of deaths in recent years but safety rules are often ignored.
