In Libya, army officers have been appointed to take over two powerful militias in the eastern city of Benghazi.<br /><br />The military has also taken over at least one compound being used by the armed groups.<br />The city's brigades have been blamed for violence that led to the death of the U-S ambassador in Benghazi on September the eleventh.<br />Libya's president has ordered all militias to join the armed forces or disband.
