Tens of thousands of people march in Melbourne, honouring Jillian Meagher who was murdered last week.<br/> <br />Huge crowds turned out for the Irish woman, who disappeared after a night out last Saturday (September 22).<br/> <br />She was found dead almost six days later.<br/> <br />The peace march stretched for over a kilometre as people joined, many of whom had never met Meagher.<br/> <br />It came to a stop outside the bridal shop where she was last seen alive on surveillance video.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN AT PEACE MARCH SAYING (English):<br/> <br />"I just felt a need to stand up for women and the solidarity that I felt for women, especially having daughters."<br/> <br />Meagher's mother Edith McKeon was in Melbourne after the event and thanked the local community.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: JILLIAN MEAGHER'S MOTHER, EDITH MCKEON SAYING (English):<br/> <br />"I would like to thank the huge support here in Melbourne, it's just been unbelievable. Just thank you, simply thank you and I hope they put more cameras out here to keep people safe and just thank you everybody, everybody for all you support."<br/> <br />Adrian Ernest Bayley has been charged with Meagher's rape and murder.<br/> <br />He will face a committal hearing in January.
