Mexican farmers revive organic gum tradition

Mexican farmers are looking to the past to create something new to sink their teeth into.<br /><br />Farmers have revived a 1,000-year-old tradition that dates back to the Mayan Indians, who used natural gum in religious ceremonies and to clean their teeth.<br /><br />The comeback was initiated by nearly 2,000 chicleros who have joined forces through co-operatives to produce the first organic chewing gum.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Rachel Levin reports from the Yucatan peninsula.
