The second branch of the Nord Stream gas pipeline linking Germany with Russia has been put into service.<br /><br />The 1,200 kilometre pipe under the Baltic Sea will double the amount of gas that can be carried to 55-billion cubic metres a year.<br /><br />The pipeline avoids crossing Ukraine, a supply route that has been disrupted in the past.<br />http://www.euronews.net/
