Hundreds of students gather in the Venezuelan capital, demonstrating against the re-election of President Hugo Chavez.

Supporting opposition candidate Henrique Capriles, they called for a re-count of votes from Sunday's (October 7) presidential election.

SOUNDBITE: UNIVERSITY STUDENT ALEJANDRA GONZALEZ SAYING (Spanish):

"We want our votes to count, we want to live in a democracy, we want to be free, we want to have a future. That is why we are here and we are not leaving until there is a manual count. We want justice."

Chavez claimed a comfortable victory with almost 55 percent of the vote.

But analysts say a slim margin of victory shows a growing frustration at day-to-day problems such as crime.

With another six-year term beginning, Chavez's rule now extends to two decades in power.
