Living off the grid full time in a 32 foot camper, I normally use a little antique Sears Roebuck wood stove with built in water boiler. But on really cold nights where I do not want to keep feeding the fire, I use a catalytic propane heater to keep it warm inside.

The Off Grid Project shows you how to get your own home off the grid.

I have moved into a camper in the middle of the forest with no outside hookups. I started out with one single homemade 65 watt solar panel and have been working to provide enough heat, light and water for relatively normal living.

It has been a long road, but I have made enough solar panels to run my laptop, cell phone, lights, fans, stereo and more with no problem. I have my own rain water collection system which makes life so much nicer and closer to normal.

There are still many more projects to come.

Follow The Off Grid Project and see how to get your own home off the grid on a budget:
http://www.theoffgridproject.com
