ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Eleven people were confirmed dead and more than 20 were missing after a mudslide ripped through a town in the Peruvian jungle on Wednesday (October 17).<br/> <br />Rescue workers and locals searched the rubble of homes for survivors in the town of Nuevo Porvenir in the Humasapa valley, which sits in northern Peru's Picota province.<br/> <br />Civil defence volunteers and locals used makeshift stretchers made out of limbs to get people across a river so they could be transported to a hospital.<br/> <br />One man said he found a girl who had been separated from her mother.<br/> <br />Authorities say the slide, touched off by heavy rains, destroyed ten homes and wiped out a footbridge.
